Unpacking the Accelerated Placement Act:  Policies and Processes to Provide Equitable Opportunities for Advanced Learners

Join the IAGC for an in-depth discussion and workshop for Regional, District, and School Leaders across the state of Illinois as we examine updated IL State Education Policies regarding gifted programs, accelerated placement, and the application of best practices in advanced learner instruction. 

Friday May 3, 2024   8:30 am - 2:30 pm  (1 hour lunch break) 

5 hours PD 

  • Explore key aspects of the Accelerated Placement Act
  • Clarify language and needs surrounding Gifted, Accelerated, Twice-Exceptional, and Advanced Learner students
  • Develop communication tools to share with parents and community members regarding your district's Accelerated Placement process
  • Discover resources for identification, enrichment, and talent development to expand academic pathways for more students 
  • Network with District and Regional education leaders across the state with similar demographics, needs, and goals. 
  • Walk away with a Model for Promising Practices that both complies with current law and creates equitable advanced learning opportunities

WHY should you attend? 

    1. To ensure that you and your education leadership team KNOW the requirements, terminology, and intent of the Accelerated Placement Act as it is written currently. 
    2. To ensure that you and your leadership team UNDERSTAND the components of an effective Acceleration Policy and effective Acceleration Process and Procedures
    3. To ensure that you and your leadership team are prepared to take ACTION to develop, initiate, evaluate, or improve the Accelerated Placement policies, process, and procedures that best meet the needs of students served in your locality.
HOW will you attend?

This 1-day summit is a virtual event that includes:

  • zoom link invite sent 3-4 days prior to event
  • informative and timely presentations from IAGC, ISBE, and/or other experts in Acceleration Policy, Law, and Requirements
  • group / panel discussion among highlighted districts from across the state to demonstrate a variety of Acceleration Procedure Models  
  • breakout room workshops for guidance in Planning an Acceleration Process, and the opportunity to network with similar districts

WHAT are the registration details?

      • Registration opens February 9, 2024
      • Registration closes April 26, 2024
      • IAGC Members     $110
      • Non-Members       $130
      • District Bundle      $425 for 4 registrations (until April 24)

All events are nonrefundable unless otherwise noted in the event registration. 

Registrations may be paid via check or credit card. 

Purchase Orders are not accepted for invoices under $1000, unless otherwise noted or arranged. 

Event registrations must be paid before the event date/time, unless otherwise noted.

Paid membership dues are also nonrefundable.
