What can the iagc do for you?

What the IAGC can do:
  • Provide information on a variety of theories and best-practice strategies relating to gifted education, characteristics of gifted children, and alignment of needs and resources through conferences, meet-ups, newsletters
  • Provide Parent Support and Networking Opportunities relating to raising gifted children
  • Provide updated information on State and Federal education policy relating to advanced learners
  • Collaborate with parents and other stakeholders to advocate for policy changes to support advanced learner needs
  • Provide potential resources for enrichment, engagement, and social interaction 
  • Connect families to resources that may be able to provide evaluative services, though we do not endorse any particular organization or service
What the IAGC does NOT do:
  • Provide diagnostic or testing services to evaluate intelligence, ability, placement, or other areas of learning readiness
  • Provide school, district, or program recommendations for an individual child
  • Provide legal, psychological, academic, or medical advice or counsel
  • Provide individual advocacy in relation to a particular student and their academic, SEL, or legal concerns
  • Provide an evaluation or criticism of any particular schools, districts, programs, or curriculum on behalf of a student, parent, or group
  • Provide gifted education services, classes, or gifted education curriculum to students.

    Designed for classroom teachers and enrichment teachers who serve advanced learners in grades K-8, each module provides practical knowledge and evidence-based strategies to meet the needs of students who achieve and/or have the potential to achieve at high levels. Attendees will gain an understanding of current, equitable and inclusive approaches in the field of gifted education and explore programming/instructional models, classroom structures, and collaborations to support advanced learners. Projects and readings are designed with an eye to applicability/relevance to classroom practice. Classroom teachers, new enrichment/advanced programming teachers, and educators seeking to update their foundational skills and knowledge for developing talents of advanced learners are encouraged to participate.

    Each of three virtual modules includes 4 hours of synchronous and 6 hours of independent learning. A Certificate of Course Completion from IAGC and 30 PD hours will be provided upon completion of all three modules. Instead of Professional Development hours, participants can opt to earn two semester hours from Lindenwood University upon completing module requirements.

    Note: Assignments will be provided and submitted on the Google Classroom platform. All participants are required to have a Google Account and email to participate in this course.


    Course Overview:

    Module 1: Understanding Advanced Learners (4 hours in-class time + 6 hours independent learning)

    Part 1 - Conceptions of Giftedness (2 hour class + readings and assignments)

    Part 2 - Recognizing and Developing Gifts and Talents (2 hour class + readings and assignments)

      Module 2: Programming, Collaborations and Classroom Structures to Support Growth of Advanced Learners (4 hours in-class time + 6 hours independent learning)

      Part 1 -  Supporting Growth of Advanced Learners Through the MTSS Framework, Assessment, and Professional Learning Communities (2-hour virtual class + readings and assignments)

      Part 2 -  Classroom, Community, and Family Collaborations to Support Advanced Learners (2-hour  virtual class + readings and assignments)

      Module 3: Differentiation and Instructional Strategies for Advanced Learners (4 hours in-class time + 6 hours independent learning)

      Part 1 -  Key Components of Differentiated Instruction for Advanced Learners (2-hour virtual class + readings and assignments)

      Part 2 - Student-Centered Differentiation for Advanced Learners (2-hour  virtual class + readings and assignments)

      Required Text: Heacox, D. and Cash, R., Differentiation for Gifted Learners: Going Beyond the Basics (revised and updated edition). Free Spirit Publishing, 2020 (ISBN: 978-1-63198-432-7) 
      *Participants are responsible for obtaining the text as it is not included in the module registration fee.

      Book is available from Amazon and other book sellers.

      All classroom sessions must be attended and readings/assignments completed for module credit. 30 hours of professional development credit is available after satisfactorily completing all of the requirements/assignments.

        C3: Coordinators Connect and Collaborate

        Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year

        If you are a Gifted Coordinator or work in a gifted program leadership role, please join the IAGC for our 4-sessionBi-Monthly Virtual Support Meetings in which we provide resources, discussions, and strategies to help teachers work with advanced learners in their classroom.

        Coordinators of advanced academic programming are invited to join this year's C3 conversations as we address a new topic from NAGC.

        LEAD PRESENTER REGISTRATION

        NOTE: This registration is open to APPROVED IAGC CONFERENCE LEAD PRESENTERS ONLY.   Deadline MAY 28, 2025.

        • 1-day presenter ticket:   $145 (required to present)
        • 2-day presenter & discounted additional day:   $420 (alternative option)

        IMPORTANT DETAILS & INFORMATION

        CONFIRM and REGISTER

        • Your proposal acceptance email includes your tentative DAY of PRESENTATION and a REGISTRATION CODE.
        • This registration serves as confirmation to IAGC that you intend to present at the 30th Annual IAGC Conference on Monday October 27 and Tuesday October 28, 2025 at NIU Naperville as the Lead Presenter (details to follow).
        • Please register using the CODE that was sent to you in your proposal acceptance letter. 
        • Payment may be deferred, and is due by SEPTEMBER 12th, 2025.
        TICKET INFORMATION
        • This PRESENTER TICKET, $145, is a one-day, non-transferable ticket, so that you may attend other conference sessions on the day you are  presenting if you choose.  The ticket also INCLUDES a box-lunch and entrance to the Monday Social Hour Celebration 3:45pm - 5:00pm.
        • Alternatively, you may purchase a TWO-DAY Presenter Ticket This ticket includes presentation day ($145), a DISCOUNTED second day ($275) and a box lunch for each day. Total: $420. 

          This special discount is only available until MAY 28, 2025 with your Presenter Confirmation. After May 28, Presenters may purchase a second-day attendee ticket at the general member or non-member price.  

        CO-PRESENTER INFORMATION 
        • When your session proposal was submitted, you may have included the name of ONE co-presenter.  It is your responsibility to share schedule information with your co-presenters.
        • Any co-presenters who are not a LEAD Presenter will need to purchase a GUEST REGISTRATION TICKET when they become available.  Co-presenters are not guaranteed to be included in the Conference Schedule, but we will do our best.  
        • If you are also a co-presenter on a day you are not a lead presenter, please make sure you register for the co-presenting day, either with the Presenter 2-day ticket, or with a general Guest Registration ticket.
        • Co-presenters must be registered for the conference in order to be added to the session schedule.
